Egg Label Meanings


Conventional	Laid by caged hens in production facility.
Cage Free	Hens lay in nesting spaces provided, but are allowed free roam of a large space.
Pasture Raised	Eggs laid by hens that forage and roam in a maintained pasture.
Enriched Colony	Eggs laid in large free roam areas that provide dust bathing, perches, scratch, and nesting boxes.
Certified Organic	Eggs laid by free range hens with access to outdoor areas and are fed organic food.
Brown	Eggs laid by chickens with dark plumage, have a naturally occurring brown coloration of the shell.
Free-Range	Eggs laid by hens that do not have any enclosure or dietary restrictions.
Pasteurized	Eggs are heated to just before cooking temperatures to rid them of bacteria.
Omega 3 Enriched	Eggs produced by hens that are fed a special omega 3 rich diet
Vegetarian Fed	Eggs from hens that are given strictly grain and vegetable feed.
